The Baymont by Wyndham Traverse City receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its value and convenient location, while others express significant concerns regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and service. Recent feedback indicates a general decline in property upkeep and guest satisfaction.
For a hotel that cost $282 a night, I don't understand how you can rip off people for what you offer. The "breakfast" was ridiculous. No eggs, the bacon wasn't cooked all the way, the sausage was floating in grease. The yogurts ran out quickly, probably bc there wasn't much else to choose from. No fruit what so ever. It was carbs and fat. Every other hotel would at least offer hard boiled eggs if not scrambled, apples, oranges and bananas. It was GROSS. The back middle door latch is broken. So, no security there. The bathroom fan sounds like it is about to fall out. The morning person at the front desk looked like she slept in her hoodie. It appeared as if you don't pay your employees enough to make them give a darn. You think you would seeing how much you charge! It felt like a cheap and dirty motel.
I left my Ipad in my room when I checked out. This was my fault. I contacted them when I got room and arranged for them to ship it to me. After 2 weeks I contacted them again and they found it under a stack of papers and promised me they would ship it that day. After a week I have called them for 3 days and front desk will not answer the phone. I contacted customer support and because I was a large group I did not know the phone number of the reservation and they cannot help me. I just wanted someone to call me but they will not.
My room was spotless and updated. I couldn't have been haper with it., The breakfast was mediocre, having no eggs or fresh fruit, but I still enjoyed my stay here!
I think all the other reviewers expected a 5-star hotel. This isn’t that. But if you’re looking for a place you can bring your family that’s clean, with a comfy bed and a nice pool, and a decent breakfast in an expensive town during the summer months. I had no issues! Close to the mall and gas stations, staff was friendly despite the fact there was a big soccer tourney happening. No complaints!
I give all 5 stars based on the value - price paid and what was provided. Accommodations in TC are above average in price vs value, imo. This hotel is used by us for short visits to see grandchildren, not as a resort destination. The place is clean, good staff, average fare for breakfast, pool is decent, hot tub was good. Very convenient location. 10 minutes to waterfront, 7 minutes to airport, and plenty of shopping in 2-5 minutes for almost anything. A 5 star value for just over a $100.00 a night.
Spring break thought it would be fun to go north, get a room with a pool/hot tub for child and friend to swim and have a fun little vacation. Get to the hotel……. POOL/hot tub closed!!!!! Person at the desk talked so quite had to have him repeat everything cause we could not hear him. We had to spend another $200 for a day pass at great wolf lodge so they could swim. Beds were like sleeping on the floor. Waffle makers (best part of hotel breakfast) OUT OF ORDER. Just a very disappointing trip along with additional expenses that were not needed if the hotel would have had all the amenities that were supposed to be offered. Should have atleast offered a discount since all amenities were not available. Probably should inform people that have multiple days reserved that the pool etc were not available so they could make other arrangemebts
Started the stay skeptically because of the reviews. While I can see why the reviews are a little lower, I don’t think it’s fully deserved. The building is run down from lack of maintenance/ updates but it looks like they do a fine job keeping things acceptably clean for how dog friendly the hotel is.
Very close to the hospital and food. The GPS has the wrong location listed though so originally it took us 20 minutes away. We had to call to get the right directions. The clerks were very nice and accommodating. The hotel itself is old and not maintained. Windows were cracked. My hair dryer almost caught on fire and had to be swapped out. The shower was dirty and the curtains cover over the heating/cooling unit so it's not efficient. They need to replace the curtains with a different style so it doesn't cover the blower. Our room had torn drywall, missing tile, and a missing drain cover in the sink. The office chair had white stains on it. Looks like someone put salty boots on it and they couldnt carpet clean it after. We paid $75 a night. For this hotel we felt safe, but it felt dirty. If you stay here, just don't expect a nicer updated hotel. This is the bare minimum standard for that price point. I recommend booking at the Hilton or a nearby hotel and skip this one due to the cleanliness issues if you are squeamish about that. The breakfast area space looked promising but then they didnt have eggs or many options in the morning.
Best hospitality, rooms are on point. Freshly baked everyday cookies to die for. Chris and Paul are absolutely incredible. The whole staff really. Came here for a month plus business trip and I would highly recommend. Makes you feel like home away from home .
I recently stayed at this hotel and it was absolutely vile. Right when I stepped into the elevator, I knew booking here was a mistake. The elevator, hallways, and stairwells reeked of mildew and trash. Any time I had to leave the room I covered my nose and mouth. I found black mold in the bathroom. I went to the pool and was accompanied by unattended children screaming at the top of their lungs. While in the pool I noticed that the pool was falling apart to the point that was friend was injured by glass found in the pool. My biggest regret is that I did not read the reviews before booking. I am not one to write reviews about negative experiences. However, I have never stayed in a hotel as bad as this one.
