The Delamar Traverse City consistently receives positive reviews, particularly praising its prime waterfront location, excellent amenities like pools and beaches, and attentive service. However, some guests report inconsistencies in property upkeep, occasional service issues, and a lack of certain amenities during the off-season. Despite these concerns, many consider it a luxurious and memorable experience.
Great location right on the water and walking distance to downtown. There are parts of the property that we're updated and others that were not (specifically gym & amenities). Mattresses were very soft and my view looked out over a flat industrial ceiling. Hotel has great amenities on paper with two pools, beach, and owned dock. It is probably great from families. I'm currently sitting in the lobby because my wife's flight got delayed, I already checked out, and they aren't letting me use the amenities while I wait. Honestly, a weird policy and unconventional for larger national hotel chains. In summary, TVC is cool & great location. Outdated and an odd service experience.
Delamar Traverse City is a beautiful wedding venue in the heart of the city, making it an ideal destination for both local couples and guests traveling to Northern Michigan. As one of Traverse City’s most sought-after hotels, it offers the convenience of accommodations and an event space in one location, creating a seamless experience for the couple and their guests. From a wedding photographer’s perspective, the waterfront setting is one of the venue’s best features. Both the terrace and the lawn provide beautiful views of the bay and plenty of opportunities for portraits without needing to travel away from the property. The natural scenery adds so much to the photographs while still allowing the focus to remain on the couple and the celebration. The suites are another standout feature. They feel modern and chic while still being comfortable and functional for getting ready. The bright, natural light photographs beautifully and creates a clean, relaxed setting for capturing the early moments of the day. The outdoor spaces also create a wonderful experience for guests. Whether they are used for a ceremony, cocktail hour, or simply as a place to gather throughout the evening, the terrace and lawn offer a relaxed setting to enjoy the water and watch the sunset over the lake. The staff at Delamar is also wonderful to work with. As a photographer working alongside their event team, I have found everyone to be incredibly kind, welcoming, and collaborative. They are attentive to the details of the day and genuinely invested in creating a smooth experience for the couple, their guests, and the entire vendor team. Delamar combines the energy and convenience of downtown Traverse City with the beauty of a waterfront destination. It is a wonderful option for couples looking for a venue that feels elevated, welcoming, and connected to everything that makes the area so special.
My husband and I have come here every July for I think 7 years. We absolutely love this trip! The rooms are very beautiful and comfortable, particularly the bay view rooms (pictured, no filter I swear). The amenities are exceptional with a very beautiful outdoor pool that is kept warm with really comfortable little bungalows to hang out in. The outdoor bar on the water along with yard games and the beautiful gardens and private beach are such a wonderful touch. There’s live music on the weekends and always a picturesque sailboat in the distance. Everything from lobby to pool restroom and in between is immaculately clean and well appointed. Every employee I’ve encountered has been friendly and helpful. In several instances we’ve had staff make our anniversary trip a little nicer with a special touch. We’re happy to keep coming back!
My family and I recently stayed here, and we had an absolutely fantastic experience. We were traveling with my elderly in-laws as well, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure everyone was comfortable and well taken care of. Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. Housekeeping was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, drinks, and live music on the patio each evening. Having access to both the indoor and outdoor pools was a huge hit with the kids, while the private beach access and evening fire pits provided the perfect place for our family to relax together. The hotel’s location, just minutes from downtown Traverse City, was another major advantage. What truly made our stay unforgettable. The hotel did an outstanding job hosting the air show/4th of July celebration. The VIP lunch for the air show was exceptional, and the views of the fireworks were simply amazing. It was one of the best Fourth of July experiences we’ve ever had. Thank you to the entire staff for your outstanding hospitality and for making our family feel so welcome. We truly appreciate everything you did and look forward to returning!
Our experience at the Delamar Traverse City was exceptional. This was a quick, but special trip to celebrate my Wife's 50th birthday. The staff was super friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in the door, while the lobby and sprawling yet open hallway compelled us to peruse the guest options (i.e. heated indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, onsite highly rated restaurant, comfortable indoor and outdoor gathering areas, outdoor bar, great coffee stand, etc.). We were surprised by an upgraded room - corner suite due to our special celebration. The room was amazing - spacious, comfortable and with a great lake view, a full and half bath. The workout room is small and leaves a bit to be desired if you are used to a gym, but does the trick for a one-off cardio or strength training. I would highly recommend the Delamar for a romantic getaway, a great place to stay for a wine tour on the Old Mission Point, a family trip, a work trip and more. This is a first rate place that is worth the slightly higher price vs. nearly competitive hotels. Thank you Delamar Staff for an amazing experience!
We loved our stay over Memorial Day Weekend. Service was warm and friendly, room was very clean and comfortable. We also loved all the amenities offered. The coffee bar, heated outdoor pool, and the recommendations for dining was great. Can't imagine staying anywhere else when in Traverse City! We will be back.
Delamar is the best venue for a wedding in Traverse City, Michigan hands down. Susan Scoby and her team (Kim, Erica, Kirstin, and everyone) will take care of every detail. From our first meeting, Susan was professional, and confident. It was clear she had a vision for our wedding, but also, she had plenty of room in her vision for our input as well. Throughout the year leading up to the wedding, I had many questions, and anxieties for the team at the Delamar. They never lost patience with me. They were very calm, professional, and responsive. If I had a question, they had an answer. They were excellent at meeting with us or taking a phone call and helping us figure out the smallest of details or the biggest worries. We all worked together tirelessly for over a year to put together a wedding that was right for us. On our special day, it all paid off. Everything was stunningly beautiful and perfectly executed. The food was bountiful, and delicious. The drinks were over the top scrumptious as well. I could not have asked for a more perfect night to celebrate our love. It was just amazing in every way. I have never been treated so well in my entire life, and I probably never will be again. Everything was perfect, and magical. I felt like I was a princess. It was just truly incredible. I can never thank them enough. If I could do it all over again, I would, and I would choose Delamar every time. Many cheers, and thanks to Susan Scoby, and her team at the Delamar in Traverse City, Michigan. From Jenn and Scott (March 2026).
We had a great experience at Delamar! My husband and I stayed here for my birthday weekend and our stay was great. We wanted a nice, relaxing weekend getaway and everything was perfect! The hotel is in a great location close to all the restaurants and shops on Front St, and not far from the wineries on Old Mission Peninsula. The hotel and rooms are extremely nice and updated and all the staff were so kind! The heated outdoor pool was really cool it’s like a big hot tub! It was in the 30°s and windy when we came, so the pool was around 90°. You can get cocktails at the bar and bring them into the pool with you and there’s also servers walking around that will get you drinks! We loved that it was adults only after 9pm and they actually enforce this. We will be staying here again for sure our next time visiting TC!
I paid just over $130- for the room rate in the winter, which was honestly a steal for the quality of the hotel. Yes, the coffee bar and mini bar prices are outrageous. The outdoor pool and hot tub weren't open even though they were supposed to be, but I still thought it was a great stay for the price.
Even though it is the winter on the bay we had a lovely time at The Delamar. Outdoor heated pool in the snow was fun. Hot tub and sauna were wonderful. Staff helpful, room was nice and clean. I made sure they didn’t charge me for anything I didn’t eat or drink out of my room, and they never did. Everything was clean. I will say the atmosphere is more like an adults only resort. I have 4 kids but I really appreciate that it was quiet and relaxing. I wouldn’t bring my kids and that’s okay.
