The Cherry Tree Resort & Suites is the absolute best!! It’s absolutely spotless the cleanliness is so impressive! The front desk staff are so friendly they treat each & every one like we have been friends forever! So much respect for their guests. I’ve stayed at many 5 star resorts that treat you like a nobody. Love, love Laura the breakfast lady??????!! She is a real GEM!! She is so congenial & she just jives with everyone! She really made our breakfast enjoyable ????. I was really sorry to hear she wasn’t there for our whole stay. We did stay for breakfast downstairs when she wasn’t there. Breakfast didn't taste that good & the coffee was terrible whoever replaced Laura didn’t know how to cook the eggs as good nor make good coffee like Laura. Too bad for us.? Staying at Cherry Tree Resort is fabulous with lake views, beautiful beaches, fire pits on a first come basis. Indoor pool as well as outdoor pool. Some room have fireplaces which we didn’t have, One down fall that I would say is the rooms that are near the fire pits are very noxious to say the least! Nothing against people enjoying them but,,,!!! The fumes are sucked up thru the air conditioners. We we NOT HAPPY WITH THE STINK GETTING SUCKED UP THRU OUR AIRCONDITIONER!!! We had to smell it all night!! I’ve been clogged up for 3 days having to breathe in the smoke while I was sleeping. I even put a towel on top of the airconditioner, shut it off & could still smell it. I believe the company should move the fire pits far away from the units. We had a fire pit right under our unit. Not happy!! We didn’t mention it to the front desk because we left the next day. Next time if we stay I will ask to stay somewhere far away from the fire pits. The CTI SHUTTLE DRIVER( SUSIE IS SO WONDERFUL!!! She is so much fun! Susie is so hospitable & oh my gosh she really is a wealth of information for Traverse City! Cherry Tree Inn & Suites are very fortunate to have her for their shuttle driver! She sang the praises for the resort! Susie shared so many insights for the city I really can’t express my gratitude to Cherry Tree resort for having such an intelligent & knowledgeable shuttle driver!!

I’ll start with the positives. The location is great and it’s nice that the hotel is on the beach. Laura was wonderful in the mornings and kept the breakfast area very neat and running smoothly. The rooms are fairly large which is a plus. This hotel is in need of major renovations and cleaning. The rooms get very musty and we’re not cleaned very well. The two comforters we had were stained, I am unsure if they were changed from the previous guests or just stained. The head boards were also stained with.. something. There was hair (not ours) in the pull out couch. The balcony was filled with spiders and spider webs, there was no way to sit there comfortably without getting spiderwebs and spiders all over yourself. There’s about an inch gap between the ac and the wall that needs sealed, which let in smoke from the fire pits at night. They ran out of towels one night, no bath or pool towels.

We stayed for 2 nights. The location & customer service of the hotel is amazing. Anytime I needed something, the staff answered & was attentive. The hotel is right on the water, the sunsets are beautiful. You have access to the beach, the water is shallow so safe & easy to swim in & there's plenty of chairs to lounge in. We stayed in a suite, a king bed, a pull out sofa in a separate room. It was plenty of space room wise for 2 adults & 2 teens. It was clean, and the bathroom was spacious. The con: Both beds were very uncomfortable, loud, and linens do not stay on the bed. The room temps would either be warm or too cold. There's just a small, mini fridge and small microwave(not really a kitchenette I was expecting). One night the campfires on the beach until well after midnight,it stunk up our room somehow? Came in through some ventilation. Just a side note-We didn't use the pool, but it is on the east side of building so mid-late afternoon the sun doesn't seem to reach it. Overall our stay was fine for just 2 nights, but I probably wouldn't stay here again.

The location of the property is great, and they check all the amenity boxes when you are looking (beach, balconies, outdoor pool, indoor pool, breakfast). Unfortunately, the property is just not well taken care of. The rooms have been "updated" but haven't been maintained. We were staying in one of the "suites", there were stains on the carpet, gashes on the walls, cobwebs all over the place and mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The outdoor pool was fine but a lot of the umbrellas were broken and there was broken concrete sitting on the pool deck. Other areas of the property also showed signs of neglect, with giant gashes in the walls, discoloration on the ceilings, the exterior facade being eaten away from the bottom up (and not addressed or even cleaned up). The beach also had trash scattered throughout the area and didn't seem to be maintained well. The lady working the breakfast area was very nice and worked very hard to make sure people were happy. The food was fine, nothing special but it was there which is more than a lot of places in the area. We also had some issues with staff at check-in. We arrived about 25 minutes before "check-in time" and were told our room wasn't ready, no big deal, but when we asked when they thought it would be ready they couldn't give us an answer. She said our room was in the que to be cleaned and there was 4 other rooms ahead of us and that we had to just deal with it. I said, okay we will just come back at 4 and she responded with "well I have no idea if it will be ready by then" but she also refused to give us any kind of indication when it would be ready.. Just a ridiculous conversation. There are a lot of options in the area to stay, a lot of them haven't been updated and need some love, but there are better options out there that are at least well taken care of. We would look for alternatives on our next trip.

This property needs a very deep cleaning. Our room and balcony were not cleaned well. Hallways and elevator floors and mats were dirty. Everything needs at least some touching up with paint. It seems there was not enough staff and supervision to make sure that high standards were met and maintained. Everything felt neglected. Beautiful location, views of water.

I had a great stay with no issues! Everybody was friendly and the breakfast was a nice added bonus. Only complaint was that my shower water didn’t get very hot the 2 nights I was here. It was warm but I couldn’t get it hot to my liking. Laura in the kitchen/breakfast area is wonderful! She is so pleasant & connects with everybody who comes in. She has a special personality!!

The staff is wonderful ! Book early this hotel makes you feel like family. They are warm friendly and will meet all your needs if they can! Sunda and Miss Laura made sure we were very comfortable! Thank you for making a work trip a mini vacation for my family. I would love to come back for a real vacation there! Beautiful rooms!!!!

The rooms are basic, toiletries products are the worst. The place is decently clean, but could use a deep cleaning, in the corners, the showers, the elevators. We had a problem with our shower & they fixed it the same day. The free breakfast does have some variety but is pretty basic, we believe the eggs are made from powdered eggs, and no bacon, only sausage patties that weren't good. The pool & hot tub was nice, clean & good temps. The snack section is convenient. The front desk staff works really long hours, not sure why someone needs to work 12+ hours. The walls of the hotel room are thin & you hear alot.

Laura in the breakfast area was absolutely wonderful. She made us feel so welcome and always made sure we had everything we needed. Their chocolate cherry coffee is delicious! The front desk staff was also wonderful. I especially enjoyed the fireplace in our room.

This is a very clean very nice place to stay located in Traverse City right on the water.. Very Beautiful views. And all staff were very friendly, kind, and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend anyone looking into staying here don't give it a second thought book it you won't regret it... April & Tracey
