Hotel Indigo Traverse City receives mixed reviews, with some praising its location, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. However, recurring concerns regarding cleanliness, inconsistent service, and unexpectedly high costs are evident. Recent reports highlight issues with room preparation, bathroom conditions, and aggressive check-out policies.
Shower needs grab bars. Short staff during Labor Day weekend. Room is a bit dingy; there isn’t enough lighting in the room. Kathy , located at the bar is an incredible , energetic, attentive waitress . Always has a smile on her face when talking to customers. She is a real asset!!!!!
Our bathroom floor was dirty with a massive amount of long brown hair and cherry stem… a stool was super dusty and underneath the desk and bathroom counter was dusty. They have a sliding barn door for the restroom that doesn’t close all the way (doesn’t have a lock). Their phone lines were also down. Nice view, and comfortable bed. Good location to the town! The lack of cleanliness was not acceptable to me and gross.
Night Shift Travelers Beware: Broken Promises, Filthy Room, and Hostile Management I am disgusted by my recent stay at the Hotel Indigo in Traverse City. I paid a lot of money for a single night under false pretenses, had my sleep completely disrupted after working a grueling night shift, and was met with hostility and zero empathy from management. Because I am a night shift worker traveling across the state, I called the hotel prior to booking to explain my situation. I needed to arrive for check in at 3:00 AM, go to work, return at 7:00 AM, and sleep. The front desk agent explicitly assured me that because they had a no-show cancellation, they could completely accommodate a 6:00 PM checkout. Based solely on that verbal agreement, I turned down several other hotels and booked a room here. When we arrived at 3:00 AM, the room was visibly dirty and unkept. There was a used rag lying on the floor, leftover tissue in the bathroom, and three dirty air filters left sitting on top of the AC unit. I took a video of all of this as soon as I walked into the room. Despite the room being dirty, I went to work, returned at 7:00 AM, and went to sleep. At noon, room service knocked on my door and woke me up. Following that, the manager personally called my room phone and woke me up twice more, aggressively telling me I had to be out by 2:00 PM. When I went downstairs to discuss the broken promise and the constant disruptions with the manager, he was completely useless, incredibly rude, and showed zero sympathy. When I told him that a 6:00 PM checkout was the entire reason I opted to stay there, he flatly stated, “Unfortunately that’s not something we can accommodate at this time,” and told me they never do checkouts that late. This was a flat-out lie. I have personally stayed at this exact property before, and they accommodated me with a 3:00 PM checkout with absolutely no issues. When I pointed this out, he still refused to acknowledge it or do anything to fix the situation. They took my money under false pretenses, failed to provide a clean room, broke their explicit agreement, ruined my sleep, and lied to my face when confronted. I assure you I will not be staying here again, and they have lost me as a customer which is unfortunate because I travel to Traverse City quite frequently for work.
We’ve stayed here twice. The location is great and the rooms are clean. The service leaves something to the imagination though. We were here recently for Bayshore Marathon weekend and obviously were trying to get some sleep early (by 10 pm so nothing unreasonable) but the rooftop bar turns into a club basically and you can hear the music 2 floors down. We tried the front desk twice and the text service but each were ignored. If you are trying to sleep here on a summer weekend, just pass (or request a room far from the bar) because they clearly prioritize the rooftop bar customers over the people paying to sleep here and it’s a bit pricey to put the rooftop bar over the comfort of people staying there.
Nice hotel, location - however definitely not worth $550 per night. Rooms dont even have bottle water for that price. Not sure who designed the room- for e.g bathroom sliding door has no handle inside, you have to use door frame to open. Its a bit of ripoff for Traverse city.
Not only was our room clean, bug free (i compulsively check every place i go) and beautiful, it was a free upgrade due to a prior groups cancellation which was absolutely dope of them to do for us! The valets were efficient and helpful, along with a nice bar and lounge! The view of the lake was perfect and the place was walking distance to the best spots in town! Only thing that was a bother was the traffic around the place and the difficult to navigate one way street so plan accordingly and know where you're going.
We stay here whenever we are in Traverse City. Staff is so nice and accommodating. My husband loves the pillows! The view is gorgeous, centrally located, and easy access for walking and biking! Lovely hotel!
While the hotel is overall decent. Large rooms, nice views, friendly front desk and valet. However, there were a few hiccups on our recent stay at the Indigo Traverse City. 1) One of our rooms had not been properly cleaned. Dirty table, shower and fridge. No towels in the bathroom; as well as a couple of appliances not working, like a phone and the fireplace. I pointed this issue to the front desk and they remedied the situation promptly. 2) On New Years Eve, after coming back from the cherry drop with my family, I decided to stop by the hotel bar. The bar tender refused to serve me a drink saying I was slurring. The problem is that I actually was sober and believe that he "mistook" my accent for a slurred speech. This was a surreal situation, but I just left, not wanting to escalate things. Is that bartender completely incompetent and can't tell the difference between a drunk and a foreign accent? Is he bigoted? I reported this incident to the guy working the front desk that night; as well as to the manager the next morning. I am not sure management ended up talking to him. But that bar tender certainly need some sort of training.
We had a wonderful three day stay here. The staff were super friendly and accommodating and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful with an open shower and stone floors. The room was a bit dark and the desk/dresser surface was a bit chipped. But aside from hhese two negatives, this was a very comfortable stay. Our dog was comfortable as well and we appreciated the pet friendly vibe. We’d definitely stay again!
Beautiful view, comfortable beds, bathroom was gross hair all over the floor and shower, hair left on "clean" washcloths, cobwebs in room and everything needed a good dusting. Here's just a few pictures. I get it that it's off season but shouldn't effect the cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms.
