Pinestead Reef Resort has a long history, but recent reviews indicate a decline in quality and maintenance. While some guests appreciate the location, spacious rooms, and full kitchens, recurring issues with cleanliness, A/C problems, security concerns, and bed bugs are significantly impacting the guest experience. The property seems to be struggling with staffing and upkeep.
We've been coming here a long time...decades in fact...but I feel like it's going by the wayside, or they just don't have enough help. The upper floors seem to be updated last. We usually always got the 1st floor, but new favorites moved in. The beds always feel worn down, always feels bowed, never wake up without back pain. The 2 queen units get a bit cramped especially when trying to go to the bathroom, like the nightstand between the beds is too wide. The A/C fan never turned off no matter the setting it was on. The decibels are QUITE LOUD for a close quarters bedroom. So loud you have up turn the TV way up to almost half volume just to drown out the A/C fan, and the wirring can stay in your head the next day, not very good ambient noise. They updated a lot of other things, especially on the first floor, but the A/C's never seem to change and there's usually rust puddles outside on the balcony below them. The filters in them are sometimes cleaned but many times we've been here and they were grungy. But the kitchen seemed clean. Even though there's no adequate door stop to prop the door open while your unloading, and if you have the screen door open, it generates quite a strong suction and can aggressively close the door on you, watch your fingers! I am a fan of oak furniture but this furniture needs to be refinished, maybe with a more modern darker stain like walnut instead of the golden oak-shade it seems to have.
Tight parking lot. Construction while we were there made things a little harder to get into the lot. Very comfortable beds. Nice updates. Good night sleep other than people being too loud at midnight.
Lovely place. Excellent location with a nice view. Made for the perfect Mother's Day weekend getaway. Love the fireplace entertainment stand!
Rooms are very spacious, and i clude full kitchens, and very nice showers and bathrooms, and the hotel itself has a very old(but in a good nostalgic way) feel to it! Beautiful view from the decks, and a nice pool, and Billiards room! Will definitely be staying here again.
The rooms were very clean. The hot tub was amazing and the gaming room was pretty cool. Loved the view off of the balcony. Only downside was the beds could have been a little comfier. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would definitely return!
They mixed our rooms up so when we went to go to our room someone was in it. Lack of communication. Other than that, the stay was decent. Good rooms for its price.
We own timeshare here and it's our happy place! The location can't be beat- right on the beach, easy access to the TART trail to bike anywhere, sidewalks to walk to nearby restaurants, stores, or (the kids'favorite) Pirates Cove. The rooms are wonderful with a full kitchen to save on food, but admittedly need some improving. Staff is always fantastic.
I like this place. The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff are friendly.
I would easily recommend this place over any other I’ve stayed. Very clean, lots of room at an exceptional price. Was more like a small apartment than a motel. Full kitchen, living room, huge balcony that was easily 2-3 times the size of a normal balcony. Plenty of space for everyone. 2 tvs. Staff was very nice. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Excellent view, room was ground level with patio open to the beach. Overall good value in an excellent location.
