Spark by Hilton Traverse City receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its cleanliness, location, and value, while others report issues with unpleasant odors, thin walls, and limited breakfast options. Recent positive feedback highlights the friendly staff and comfortable rooms, but a significant number of reviews mention problems such as dirty rooms and unresponsive management.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! room smelled like old wet dogs and moldy carpet. I asked them to help me. Was told by front desk that there was nothing they could do as there was no one there would do anything about it. Then told because I booked on another site they would not change the room. Basically told us to stay in an awful smelling room. We left next day. DO NOT STAY HERE. I tried calling Hilton for help - even they got put on hold and nothing happened. I am going to reach out to ownership entity tomorrow. They were NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Funny thing is someone warned me not to stay there and I did anyway - I think alot of these reviews are fake.
Conveniently located near Grand Traverse Mall & Grand Traverse Crossing and retail near 31/Airport Rd. We enjoyed our stay at Spark by Hilton Traverse City. Our room was comfortable, and though I did see a family with a dog, we were fortunate that one was fresh and clean, free of dog smell. Another reviewer complained about a lack of outlets near the bed—they likely didn’t notice the console on the bedside table containing electrical outlets and USB ports, as well as the outlets on the side walls. There’s a sign near the door that clearly states housekeeping stops by every other day, and I never want them in daily anyway. The vanity in the bathroom includes a 2-pack of disposable cups (you can get more at the desk, and request additional towels there as well). There is plenty of parking. The lobby is very simple with a few tables and chairs and a bench or two. The breakfast is continental style with boiled eggs and yogurts as the only real proteins. This hotel is designed as more of a value price option than the fancier resorts downtown and on the waterfront. Read the overview on the business profile and know before you go! We were pleased with our stay, we know what we are in market for, and would come back for a future stay.
One of the cleanest Hilton hotels I've ever stayed at! This place is a real gem. The entire room is well maintenanced and extraordinarily clean. The furniture is functionally designed and decorated nicely. The provided use items (e.g. toilet paper, towels, etc.) are high quality and feel new/soft. We were also traveling with our pet dog, and the hotel staff were very welcoming and accommodating to him. Amazing value - highly recommend!
This was a pleasant stay at a very clean hotel. Normally pet friendly places aren't nearly as clean. The beds were comfortable and had plenty of pillows. Coffee in the lobby only and their continental breakfast was limited. My only real complaint was that there were no cups in the room. I had to rinse out my travel cup to use while brushing my teeth. Overall I will definately stay again above all because it was kept so clean.
We had such a great stay at Spark by Hilton Traverse City! The front desk girl was incredibly kind, welcoming, and made check-in so easy from the moment we arrived. The hotel itself was super clean, calming, and had a fresh modern feel throughout. The rooms were spacious, updated, and perfect for staying with young kids — which made a huge difference for our family. Everything felt comfortable, convenient, and well thought out. The breakfast options were minimal, but that was very clearly stated when we booked, so it was exactly what we expected and not an issue for us at all. The walls are a little thinner, so you could occasionally hear some noise, but it stayed quiet during sleeping hours and honestly didn’t bother us or impact our stay. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Traverse City!
Arrow the manager was by far the best experience of this trip. I stayed for a week. The breakfast was meh. The eggs they claimed to have were hard boiled and not the greatest flavor. They have 4 bland types of cereal, they have ONE vanilla yogurt machine, or bagels/muffins. The breakfast options were below sub par for a Hilton. Also my blinds wouldn’t close all the way. You pull to close them shut and they open from the sides. Didn’t like how coffee was never made fresh in the afternoons when the toothless blonde worked the front desk. I went for coffee 3 times in one week about 6pm and it was never fresh. Coldddddd coffee. Yet it’s a 24 hour coffee station. Idk I just wasn’t too happy with my week long stay overall. She was always too busy out front of the main doors smoking a cigarette. The tvs they have are a joke. Mine didn’t turn on or off half the time. Also, I don’t understand why you keep putting people right next to eachother when there wasn’t a full hotel. 4 people right next to eachother in the 3rd floor when there was a full floor. Ask me how I know, because I was there for a week and saw the traffic coming in and out. Not a good experience and totally misled what type of experience I would have there based on their website. No pool either and dryer sounds like it’s gonna explode any second I’m surprised you can’t hear it outside the hotel.
I always enjoy going to a Hilton location and have stayed in a bunch throughout the country. This is my first time staying at a Spark location, so I can’t speak for the others, but my experience was thrown off immediately. Upon pulling in, we noticed a guest services employee smoking right outside the front doors and chatting with an older gentleman (not an employee) who was also smoking. When we walked up to the door, she asked if we were here to check in and put out her cigarette before following us inside to check us in. This was disappointing and it felt like we had arrived in an undesirable Chicago neighborhood or something. This was especially disappointing to me because there were all sorts of no smoking signs everywhere you looked. She wasn’t smoking inside, but of course, the smell lingers so it felt like she might as well have been. Otherwise, she was very sweet and professional. When we arrived at our floor, there was a distinct weed smell. Again, disappointing and unsettling. Hilton is known to me as a higher end, almost luxurious, option and this location did not meet that expectation because of our experiences.
Needed a room near the hospital and checked out Spark as first option. Was casually chatting with Dawn about family in hospital and she was very helpful and accommodating in booking us a great room. Dawn made us feel special!
Pleasantly surprised. The staff, all of them, I stayed two seperate nights in one week and all of them were kind and friendly and helpful. The bedding was soft and comfortable, the mattress was a delight. I needed a hot shower and the toiletries provided were 5 star. The breakfast was a delight as well. I’ve found my go to hotel.
Fabulous toilet paper! (Bet you never saw THAT in a review before.) It's true. Little things make a difference! Our room was clean and it was nice. They had the best price in the area, and we felt it was a great value. They don't have a hot breakfast, but they do have cereal and it was okay. We would stay again, for sure.
