The Vic offers a modern, renovated stay in Traverse City with self-check-in and a focus on guest convenience. Recent reviews highlight comfortable beds, a desirable location, and a generally positive experience, but also cite concerns about thin walls, parking limitations, and inconsistent service, particularly regarding the absence of a traditional front desk. Several guests praised the value and amenities, while others expressed frustration with booking price discrepancies and a lack of responsiveness.
I was a bit hesitant to choose the Vic that did not have anyone at the front desk. I am impressed with txt and phone communication as well as being pleasantly surprised with the ease of checking in ising door codes txted to my phone one hour before check in! Other patrons were quiet. Games in the beautiful new lobby were fun for our group to play (battleship was the favorite). Two items to be aware: If you drive a full size pickup you will have only 4 inches of space to exit your vehicle due to small parking spaces. I love the clean hard floors everywhere, but if you go to bed before 11 pm consider packing earplugs. (can hear patrons walk in the halls to their rooms.)
Had the opportunity to stay at The Vic last week as part of our family's Northern Michigan road trip. The property is nicely renovated which lead to a warm and welcoming experience. The lobby was a nice open concept that provided a lot of seating for any type of gatherings. My girls enjoyed the wide range of fun games provided. The rooms are spacious with a nice amount of room for storage and are very efficiently laid out making it very comfortable for our family of 4. Lastly, the self check in process provided great communication prior to check in that lead to quick access to our room with no issues. Our family will be back to The Vic on future trips up to Traverse City!
Pros: rooms are nice, beds were comfy, location was great for all things in and around traverse city. We didn’t have a problem with the self check in and wireless entry but I saw many people who didn’t understand the concept of a hotel not having a 24/7 front desk. Cons: walls are thin, we heard people roller blading or moving bags from the room above, could have sworn they were in our room. You experience here may depend on the guests and how loud they are. I think this hotel could use some sound deduction in the main halls, and from upstairs. Maybe even carpet on the 2nd floor would help. If you have a room around 121, there is an arcade room right by the room. I heard people playing at 1am. Like I said experience is 100% dependent on other guests. Breakfast isn’t great but at least they have stuff. Parking: if you drive a big suv or a truck this parking lot is TIGHT! You might not want this hotel if you drive a bigger automobile. Overall: we would stay here again but only if we couldn’t find a different hotel or we need something quick for one night. Price here is reflected in experience. When staff is on site, they are friendly and helpful. If something is done about the thin walls, I would rate this 5 stars.
We just left the Vic by Kasa in Traverse City and had a great stay. I was a little concerned when booking because I hadn’t heard of the resort, but it exceeded my expectations! The hotel was very clean, great location, and nice decor. The beds were super comfy! There was someone working the front desk during business hours and a number to call/text after hours, this worked well for us. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again! And there is a small beach area a block or two behind the hotel that is great!
This spot was clean and in a good location. The price I paid through AAA was very reasonable. It would have been even better if the one treadmill in the fitness room was working and there were some utensils and other accessories in the room, which would have made using the microwave more likely. It was nice to have a fridge, microwave and kettle in the room.
As a business consultant for many years, I traveled weekly and have stayed in countless hotels. This was a family trip. We rented two rooms, and I was a bit apprehensive about the “no staff” model — but it worked out well. There’s some fine-tuning still to be done, but overall the experience was smooth. The facility and accommodations were top notch. The rooms were very clean, thoughtfully designed, with nice furnishings, a great bed, and quality linens. The hotel sits on a major road, and we were close to it, yet there was no road noise and no noise from neighboring rooms. I would highly recommend The Vic. We’re returning next week, and I’m looking forward to it. There are other Kasa properties in Traverse City, and I’m eager to try those as well
We intended on a 7 day 6 night trip but the water pump on my truck went out and the shop recommended by tge6 dealership couldn't get me in until the following Monday and they extended our stay for two more nights for the same reservation rate. Tesa is the most gracious host. She brought a bottle of wine and a hand written card after my wife's retirement was the reason for our visit. She offered to help us get settled since I have so much equipment to support my breathing problems. Two electric plug blocks were also provided with USB A and USB C ports. Laundry is included as we're detergent, fabric softener and sheets. There were dog treats at tge desk and poo bags too. Please clean up after your pet. Someone kept forgetting. The outdoor lounge area was great for my service dog to relax. Not a room with a view but everything you need with grace and not $150/night. Smart TV is great as I could cast from my phone with SMARTVIEW. There are bicycles to use too and a nicely appointed lounge area. Close enough to crazy town traffic if you want it. It's in a perfect location. If you take 8th street to the lake you'll find a beautiful park.
We had a good stay. The concept is kind of strange with no one at the desk. There was no extra toilet paper in the room and we ran out. No one at the desk to ask. I gave it four stars because the price is right and it was clean. The lobby is gorgeous and we even got some nice family pictures inside. Love the idea of the games. I think if there was front desk staff and coffee available it would go a long way. Also, the shower was absolutely lovely. And the beds were comfy! Other suggestions i like to make: 1.) place a pen in the rooms 2.) put a dark face cloth in the rooms for makeup removal
I had an outstanding stay at The Vic! Arrival experience was smooth and seamless and the amenities in the Hotel and room were premium. I don't typically drink coffee in hotel rooms, but the electric tea kettle and steeped coffee pulled me in and it was delicious! The location is absolutely perfect. You are right off of the beach and only a few minutes from downtown, giving you the best of both worlds. The furnishings in this newly renovated property are upscale and very well thought out. It is a beautiful property that I would recommend to anyone when travelling to Traverse City.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Vic. We had brought our dog. The hotel was a block from the water, so it was very enjoyable to walk our dog! I'm very particular about pillows...the pillows were fluffy and easy to change shapes to mold my head for a great sleep There was someone at the front desk that was very courteous and helpful. We will definitely stay here again!
